1/4 lb. Italian sausage
1 Egg.
1/2 c. Chopped onion
1/2 c. Oatmeal
1/2 tbsp. Italian seasoning
1 jar Spaghetti sauce
Sliced Provolone cheese
Shredded Mozzarella cheese
Ciabatta rolls
Mix the hamburger with the Italian sausage. I have tried all sorts of utensils to mix these two ingredients but I have found that my hands work the best.
Add the egg, onions, oatmeal, and seasoning. At this point you could add whatever spices you wanted to the meat. Mix well until everything is blended.
Roll mixture into little balls. You can make them any size you want. I like to make a few smaller ones for Punky.
You just want to brown the outsides, they will cook thoroughly in the crockpot. If you cook them too much in the skillet, they will be really dry on the inside.
Pour half of the jar of spaghetti sauce in the crockpot.
Put the meatballs in the crockpot. Cover them with the rest of the sauce.
I set the crockpot on high for the first hour. Then I turned it down to low for the next two hours. While they cooked, I had time to catch up on some light reading. This is her favorite book right now. We only read it about 50 times a day. I am so proud that she loves books as much as she does.
Slice rolls in half. I put them on a foil lined cookie sheet. This helps with the clean up.
Put a little of the sauce on the rolls. Put the meatballs on the rolls. I like to cut them in half so it is easier for the cheese to stay on.
Throw on a slice of provolone.
Sprinkle mozzerella cheese on top. I like to put a dash of Italian seasoning on top of the cheese.
Put under the broiler until the cheese is melted.
Enjoy!
